Executive Director

Katherine DiMatteo is the Executive Director of the Sustainable Food Trade Association as of November 2013. She has worked in a variety of capacities within the organic industry since 1990. In addition, DiMatteo continues as a managing partner at Wolf, DiMatteo + Associates,  a consulting firm whose specialists deliver effective strategies to help organic products and businesses grow. 

Formerly the executive director of the Organic Trade Association from 1990 to 2006, she was instrumental in shaping the outcome of the U.S. National Organic Program standards and the U.N. Codex guidelines for organically produced foods.  DiMatteo recently served as the president of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements Board of Directors and is a founding member of The Organic Center’s Board of Directors.

Associate Director

Lisa Spicka is the Associate Director for the Sustainable Food Trade Association. She has worked extensively in the organic food/agriculture, manufacturing, and sustainability sectors since 1997 in both the U.S. and Latin America, and speaks fluent Spanish. Lisa offers substantial organic, operational, and sustainability insight to SFTA members.

As President of Maracujá Solutions in White Salmon, WA, Lisa helps clients protect their product and brand integrity through development of sustainable supply chain integrity programs. The former Latin American Coordinator for the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), she developed broad experience leading global trainings and presentations on organic standards, accreditation, and procedures. As Operations Manager at Cypress Grove Chevre, she designed food safety and labor standards and related training programs, and with Amway-Nutrilite, she created and tracked metrics for “NutriCert,” a program that fosters the sustainability practices of the brand’s global suppliers.

Education and Research Assistant

Parishad’s interest in food began at a very young age as she grew up in the food industry. She first began working at her family-owned restaurant here in Oregon, which is where she realized her passion for food. Parishad earned her B.S. in Nutrition and Food Management with an emphasis on Dietetics from Oregon State University. Later, she earned her MBA from Portland State University. Parishad’s professional interests are in research and marketing. She has extensive knowledge in sustainability and corporate social responsibility along with great interest in social innovation. Parishad will use her extensive knowledge and skills in research, marketing, and food manufacturing to contribute to the development of sustainability tools and education programs for the organic food sector.

Parishad currently lives in Portland, OR and enjoys engaging with the local community. She volunteers at a local shelter for teen girls where she teaches nutrition classes regularly. On her free time, Parishad enjoys walking, jogging, swimming, biking, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
